Working on the bathroom

Just launched a kickstarter campaign to raise money to fund scientific research around the nutritional break down of fodder at various stages of growth for our book on Fodder. Please check it out!

Working on the bathroom

We decided to start working on the bathroom this weekend.  It has been on the list for quite some time.  We are putting up some bead board.  And we noticed that we have an odd cabinet in the hall.  It is a cubby for collecting laundry.  You can get to it from the hall…but not from the bathroom.  We changed this but adding a hole to the laundry basket.

Here is the current state.

I decided to remove some dry wall to patch the hole at the bottom so that the trim board has somewhere to hang.

Then I cut a hole in the wall to pass laundry through to the laundry basket.

I then framed up the hole.

I used the small perpendicular stick to keep the 2x4 from falling into the wall.

Here is the finished roughed out hole.

This hole felt too small though.  So I decided to make it bigger while I still could!

Then I cut some custom boards to finish up the hole.

And finished up the hole.

Then I added the exterior frame where we would eventually hinge up a door.

Next I filled up some of the corner to hang the bead board.

Then a base board was added to accept the bead board.

And finally it was time to add some bead board.

Then some chair rail to finish it off.  I need to add a small piece of 1/4 round between the tile and bead board.

Here is the other wall where we have a half height and full height bead board.

Just need to finish the bead board, some trim, and then a few coats of paint.

Then we took a quick break to ride some horses!
